With her faith in academia beginning to erode and memories from her time in the Balkans and the Middle East haunting her, she travels to the Welsh borders with her boyfriend, Philip Lucas, to visit his father, Oliver, who has his own past to reckon with. An intimate play, pitting personal philosophies against global politics to show how the war and its aftermath have affected so many people's lives. The play premièred on Broadway in 2006, and played a capacity run at London's Royal Court Theatre in 2008.
